Katyń

In April and May of 1940

by a decision of the highest authority of the Soviet Union

Nearly 22,000 Polish citizens were murdered:

prisoners-of-war from camps in Kozelsk, Starobilsk, Ostashkov and prisoners.

The victims of the crime were transported to several execution sites

Annihilated and buried in forests nearby

Their bodies were found in mass graves

in Katyn,

Kharkiv,

Mednoe,

Bykivnia.

To this day we still do not know the identities of all the victims.

Some of them most likely rest in Kuropaty.
The others in unknown, nameless graves.
